TPS65920 - finish the design questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65920, OMAP3530, TPS65950, TPS65930

Hi,

my customer is about to finish his TPS65920 design and left by a few un sure points.

I appreciate your help in answering the below..thanks!

I have an left-over questions for you, as we are approaching the end of the PNR-1000 circuit editing.

    • OMAP: I have a question regarding OMAP's power supply. We are using OMAP3530, CBC (0.5 BGA pitch) package, but our reference design (MISTRAL's) is CBB (0.4 BGA pitch). Our power filrtation ("battery" capacitors) was based on MISTRAL's CBB design. Is there any reason to believe CBC filteration should be in any way different?
    • PMIC: TPS65920 JTAG is used for ICE interface as I understand from the DS. It is clear that testing of the PMIC can be done through JTAG. Can it also be used for programming/loading?
    • I will be using LED A's pin as LCD enable. I need to know whether LEDSYNC & LEDGND should be used in any way with regard to the LCD enable.
    • In Mistral's reference design (attached) HSUSB_DATA6 is pulled down with a 1K resistor. What is the reason for this connection?

    • PMIC: Please have a look at the following note on the TPS65920/930 DS:

THE SIGNALS VPRECH, VBATS AND VCCS must be connected to each other and to the CPRECH capacitor to GND .

I could not find VBATS and VCCS on TPS65920/930, is this a text-line transfer from the TPS65950 DS that was left here by mistake?

thanks for the support!!

Amit

  • Hi Amit,

Please ask the OMAP question to OMAP support/forum.

JTAG on PMIC is used only for the testing someting like boundary scan. In application mode you will have to use I2C for programming internal registers.

I will have to find out why DATA6 is pulled up on Mistral board. You can connect ULPI signals directly to OMAP. It should not have any problems.

VBATS and VCCS are battery related pads as on TPS65950. The note is an error in the data manual, please ignore it. I will remove it for the next revision.

    Gandhar.

  • Hi,

DATA6 line had some bus turn around issues/errors initially on the board. Production version of the device does not have any issues. On the newer Mistral board this 1K is not populated.

  • Hi ,

We are doing using OMAP3530 and TPS65930.

Can anybody send the latest schematic of TPS65930?

    Regards,

    Murugan

  • Hi,

I doubt if you will get any schematic from anyone. Many customers do not want to share this info. However, you can refer to the Beagle board, Mistral Board or the links on the product website.
