LM828: About charge-pump capacitor.

Part Number: LM828
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2776, TPS60400

Hello E2E team.

I have a question about charge-pump capacitor for LM828.

Would it be possible for charge-pump capacitor to use of ceramic capacitor instead of electric capacitor?

Thanks.

  • Hi Jonathan,

Yes. As mentioned in the D/S, lower ESR gives better performance.

However, please see newer devices like the TPS60400 and LM2776 which are designed to use ceramic caps and have lower output impedance and require smaller capacitances.
