LP5907: LP5907 input range

Part Number: LP5907

1  What factors determine the input voltage range recommended by the device, if it is slightly lower than the datasheet recommendation, what will be the impact?

2  What factors determine the input and output Capacitors range recommended by the device? CAN I derive it from Functional Block Diagram of datasheet?

The reference datasheet:

Input Voltage Range: 2.2 V to 5.5 V

Stable With 1-μF Ceramic Input and Output Capacitors

  • Hi Eason.

what input voltage recommendation of datasheet do you mean?

Respecting the input and output capacitances the datasheet already contains extremely detailed information. What information are you missing?

  • Hi Eason,

Input voltage range is usually determined by multiple factors. For example, the process used for the device, the design structure used and the dropout values with the load and the vout voltage. Devices have been tested and verified at the recommended condition. Devices used outside the recommended condition may have potential issue.

Input and output cap plays a big role for the stability related issues. This is one of the topic that will always be discussed in a LDO datasheet. Like Kai suggested, input and output cap discussion is already covered in LP5907 datasheet. Function diagram is only for demonstration purpose only and you are not able to determine the input and output needed only based on the diagram.

I would be able to help more if you have more specific question on the device itself.

  • Thanks for your reply, I just want to know more details about this chip.
  • Hi Jason,

Thanks for your detail explanation, I am a new member and just want to study more about LDO. Especially how it implements these functions. If I face more detail question, sure I will connect with you.
