TPS61099: If 200mA load before star-up, the output is 1.6V

Part Number: TPS61099

Dear TI engineer:
My customer used TPS610995 for 3.0V boost to 3.6V. When star-up load is 0mA or lightload, the output is 3.6V, if there is 200mA load before star-up,  when 3.0V input, the output only 1.6V.

So when there is 200mA or higher load before star-up, how to make output normal? Is the schematic  design has problem? Thanks!

Schematic as below, R42,R41,R74 are NC, and C26,C32,C33 are NC.

  • this is normal behavior for this device. because it need to limit the output current to achieve the short circuit protection.
i guess customer measure the behavior using e-load. however, the actually load doesn't behave as e-load. the actually load normally only active after the output voltage is ready. so the issue would not happen with actual load.

most of the boost converters with short circuit protection function have similar behavior. we didn't find issue in real application.
  • Hi Jasper:
    Thanks!
