BQ78350-R1: AOLD & AOLDL alarm

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76920, , BQ78350

Dear TI,

I use BQ76920+BQ78350-R1 for 5S1P 18650(SDI-18650-25R) application,

I want to set max voltage is 3900mV*5=195000mV and max discharge current is 20A, btw i have finished I,V,and T calibration as below,

Question 1:

Although i have set OCD=-22000mA, AOLD=0f, and ASCD=07, the window will show AOLD  when BMS receive over -10000mA  current information,

Question 2: about parameter of capacity setup

All setup of parameter values are correct?

Thanks & BR.

  • Hi Chiayuan ,
Thank you for your interest in our products. A BMS expert has been assigned to your question.

  • Question 1:
When you configure the AOLD, the BQ78350 configures the OCD setting in the BQ76920.
According to the settings that you have set, RSNS = 0 (SCD register)

In order to verify why the AOLD would be set, we need to know what is your sense resistor?

With your current setting, the error would triggered at the following current (V/R):
current for AOLD = 50mV / sense resistor value

If you change the RSNS setting to 1, the AOLD would be set at 100mV / R.

Also, the AOLD will be triggered after only 10ms. Is that what you want?

    Question 2:
Most of these settings should be available from the battery manufacturer, although, someone from TI might be able to give you more guidelines.

    Regards,
    Michel
  • Dear Michael,

According to your suggestion, i could try discharge current at 20A.
    thanks.
