BQ76PL536A: Issue using GPAI as a 3rd temperature sensor input

Part Number: BQ76PL536A

Hello,

We are developing a BMS and we would like to use the GPAI input as a third temperature sensor, the hardware design for this third temperature sensor is exactly the same as TS1 and TS2 (Figure 15 from the BQ76PL536A datasheet). We are using the same NTC and the same capacitors and resistors.

The problem appears when we read from the ADC. The data that we receive, at the same time when all the sensor are at the same temperature (around 23ºC), are very different. For example, after using the conversion formula from the BQ76PL536A datasheet (page 18 – 7.3.1.4.1), we obtain values from 680 mV up to 1300 mV and consequently after converting to temperatures, the values go from 23 ºC to 45ºC.

We also detect that there are some incoherent information along the BQ76PL536A datasheet. In page 18, section 7.3.1.4.1 is explained that the byte needed to set on the FUNCTION_CONFIG register is 0100 xxxxb. But it does not match with the description provided on the same datasheet page 50.

We would very much appreciate if you could help us on this issue.

Thank you,

Manel
