TPS63020: Output noise requirements

Part Number: TPS63020

Hi,

I have an application that requires power supply noise less than:

  • 100 mVpp from 0 to 50 kHz
  • 5 mVpp at 1 MHz measured in 50 kHz bandwidth
  • 10 mVpp at 1 MHz measured in 1MHz bandwidth
  • 5 mVpp above 5 MHz measured in 1 MHz bandwidth.

I was wondering if the TPS63020 fulfills these requirements in a default configuration with a 1uH inductor and 47uF output capacitor. Input voltage 3.2-4.2V and output voltage 5V.

  • Welcome to the forum.

Why are you picking a buck-boost converter for 5V output and an input voltage which is always lower? A boost converter would be more suitable for those input and output conditions.
Anyway, looking on the numbers I think it should be possible with the TPS63020 if the device is operating in fixed frequency PWM mode. This either happens automatically at a nominal load condition or if you force it into this mode.
  • Thanks! We have other reasons as to why it must be a buck-boost.
