EV2400: EV2400 not recognized

Part Number: EV2400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ27441-G1, BQ27441EVM-G1A, GPCCHEM

We have EV2400 and bp27441-G1A .

We have try several times to connect EV2400 and bp27441-G1A at differents PC (some with Win 7 64bit, and one with Win XP 32bit) without positive result.

The outcome its always the same for all PC: No device recognized on the USB list and no driver activity installation appear.

If we start bqstudio a selection device windows appears due to not recognized device. Afeter manually selection of the bq2771-G1A all items on the left is grayed ant doesen't comunicate.

We have also try to upgrade the firmware to 0,18 with dedicated tool, but no EV2400 is recognized also with this application.

What we are wrong?

  • Hi Aroldo,

    Do the 3 LEDs on the ev2400 light up to show the device is functional? Do you have an ev2300 to test? Do you have another device to test this out to make sure the issue is not with your EVM?

    thanks

  • Hi Onyx,

    It is a mystery, but today the system has now begun to work without any new actions. The EV3000 and bq27441-G1A comunicate properly with bqstudio. Probably when the PC was restarted, it was configured... I don't know...

    Thankyou for your support.

    Regards

    Aroldo

  • Hi Onyx,

    unfortunatly I must to come back on the topic due to lose the comunication newsly. The problem is the same, starting bqstudio with EV2400 the device is not recognized. The problem happened suddenly and still for 2 days. We don't have another EV2400 or EV2300 or EVM to test.

    We only have another component bq27441-G1 for replace the one mounted on EVM board.

    Measured the I2C signal with oscilloscope on the I2C bus between EV2400 and EVM it is possible to see only 1 square pulse present on both signals (SCL and SDA). I'm not able to share a picture, if you give me an e-mail I can do it.

    You can think that the trouble is on the component bq27441-G1 and replacing that the comunication start to work?

    Another idea?

    Waiting for your feedback I send my best regards

    Aroldo

  • Hi Aroldo
    Pls get an EVM. This will allow you figure out what is wrong with your board.
    thanks

  • Hi Onyx,
    Sorry but the scenario is very strange: this morning the system composed by:
    • EV2400
    • bq27441EVM-G1A
    • PC
    has resumed working suddenly. This is strange.

    Anyway, my question now is different and is focus on the tuning configuration of corrected parameters to use for bq27441EVM-G1A.

    The battery used is LP-454965-2P-3M with features:
    • 3700mV
    • 3000mAh
    • 11,1KWh

    We have inserted on bqStudio (TI's SW for EVM configuration):
    • Design voltage 3700 (mV);
    • Nominal capacity 3000 (mAh);
    • Nominal energy 11100 (mWh);
    • Taper current =(3000/(360+36))*10=76 (0.1-hr rate);
    • Empty voltage=3650 (mV);

    During the discharge the battery goes from 100 to 0 in 8 hours as expected (the voltage goes from 4,2V to 3,65V as expected).
    However, during charge the % battery charge goes from 0% to 100% in at least 4 hr and the voltage goes from 3,65V to 3.9V (the expected value was up to 4,2V in 8 hr).

    This mean that if during charge if we stop the charge @ 100%, the battery has reach only 3,9V (the expected value was 4,2V) and consequently the duration of charge is only about 4 hour instead 8 hour as expected.

    What we wrong? Why during charge operation the EVM show 100% of charge early as expected?

    Waiting for your feedback, I send my best regards

  • Hi Aroldo,
    it shows 100% early likely because the default chem id you are using is not an exact match. Did you run your cells through the test listed in gpcchem to determine if using a rom gauge is ideal for you?

    thanks
