LM5176: PPS

Part Number: LM5176
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5175, PMP20107

HI Sir

TypeC PD3.0 with PPS need to support 3Vin

I saw LM5175 have a reference design can be used for 3.5V

May I know TI have solution can support 3Vin~24Vin to 5Vout/5A?

  • The ref design should be able to support 3Vin. The 3.5V came from the spec for the applications that the ref design targeted at. Just note that the circuit requires at least 4.2Vin to startup, but the input voltage can drop down to 3V during operation. The 4.2Vin is mainly for the device to establish adequate VCC voltage for the IC to operate normally.

If they want the circuit to start up with Vin=3V, an additional small boost converter or charge pump device is needed to provide VCC voltage. If a higher voltage rail available in the system, like 5 to 40Vdc, itcan also be used to supply Vbias to produce adequate VCC voltage and enable the circuit startup under low Vin.

    Thanks,
    Youhao
