TPS54531: Rcomp, Ccomp value selction in TPS54531

Part Number: TPS54531

Hi,

I am using TPS54531 regulator . I am stuck in selecting(determining) Rcomp and Ccomp values that needs to be connected to COMP pin , and there is one more capacitor connected in parallel to it from COMP to GND  Can you please suggest why it is used and how to determine its values?

Similarly in selecting output and input capacitor . I am bit confused withe formula specified in the datasheet , because the webench and mine calculated value doesnot match ?

mine req is Vin=5V, Vout=3.3V, Iout=4A.

Regards,

Karthik

  • hello Karthik,
you can use 37k Rcomp and 2.2nF Ccomp to begin designing your circuit. then adjust the COMP values according to the load transient performance.
it's suggested to use 2x4.7uF input cap and 2x47uF output cap.
The formula of datasheet usually gives the minimum value, so get enough margin, we always use larger values.

    best regards,
    edwin.
