LM3414: Current sense in LM3414

Part Number: LM3414

Hi Folks, I am using LM3414 as CC for 34W dimmable led driver. I want to measure the current at different brightness levels and will interface it with microcontroller. My question is, how can i measure the current between LM3414 and luminaire.

PS-

can not use current sense resistor as led always have leakage.

thanks

  • Hello,

Is this just for prototyping purposes, or will you need to monitor the current in the end product? If it is only needed for prototyping then a current probe could be used. Otherwise the only other ways with this device is to either know what RIADJ the IADJ pin is seeing or to use a current sense resistor and measure its voltage.

I'm not sure I understand why a current sense resistor cannot be used? It would be in series with the LED string (either at the input or connected to the inductor) so leakage isn't really a factor as far as I can tell. But I'd like to know if I'm missing something. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Clint
