TPS92515HV: Question about output current

Part Number: TPS92515HV

Hello,

Made TPS92515HV circuit as attached Webench design to get 1.64A output, but measured output current is 1.84A not 1.64A.

Could you let me know why output current is different from Webench design?

And how can make it to get 1.64A output current?

Regards,

Nicky

  • Hello Nicky,

The calculated values are good, but this device usually needs some small amount of adjustments when you get it on the bench since it is a peak current detect rather than regulating average current.

That said there are 3 ways of adjusting the average output current easily and you can do one or more, whichever is easiest:

    1. You could reduce the IADJ voltage a bit until the average current is correct.

    2. You could adjust Roff1 until the average is correct. I higher Roff1 value will lower the switching frequency which increases the inductor ripple. Increasing the ripple will lower the average output current.

    3. You could change the inductor value. Same as above, if you lower the L value the ripple will increase and average current will reduce.

    Regards,

    Clint
