TPS43060: TPS43060 using UCC27211A

Part Number: TPS43060
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27211A, LM5122

Hi Expert,

The customer would like to use the high /low side (UCC27211A) to increase the TPS43060 driving capability.

Since the UCC27211A had the level shift inside for high side input. The input signal need to be TTL compatible
input threshold logic.

So we are thinking the TPS43060 HDRV cannot feed into the UCC27211A directly.

Will need the advice can we connect the TPS43060 SW pin to the PGND and not use the Bootstrap capacitor then wire the HDRV to the UCC27211A high side input now.

Best regards,

  • The major concern with the external driver is the dead time control. The TPS43060 has an adaptive dead time control scheme. The two driver cross check each other's status during switching transients, avoiding shoot through. An external driver defeats this scheme. You may consider to add a load capacitor at the LO and HO to create adequate dead time between the HO and LO, then the external driver can follow.

When SW is grounded, you need to tie the boot pin to VCC. You may also consider the LM5122 or LM25122 which has stronger driver, maybe able to drive your FET directly.
