TPS61165: Effect of inductor in series with LEDs

Part Number: TPS61165

For reasons unrelated to the operation of the TPS61165, my system has an inductor in series with a string of 3 LEDs driven by the TPS61165.  I have tested the circuit, currently with a 10uH inductor, and to some surprise it seems to work just fine.  In fact, looking at various signals on an oscilloscope, I really can't find any difference in operation whether the inductor is there or not.  I had feared that it would mess with the control loop, or require a change in compensation, or cause a voltage spike, or some sort of problem, but it really appears to be working normally.  Perhaps I am overestimating the effect that this inductor could have?

Below is a quick sketch of the circuit.  Any advice or comments about this would be extremely helpful!
