BQ24032A: Schematic review for linear charger bq24032a

Part Number: BQ24032A

Hello,

I was hoping to get this attached schematic reviewed. I wish to only use the AC input, so I am not sure if I should leave the USBPG  floating as is? Also, I would like to use 2000mAh or less LiPo batteries, so is it okay to have the charge current at ISET1 be at 1A? Will it be detrimental to the battery life? Is it advisable to increase the resistance at ISET1 to 2k to get the max charge current to around 500mA? If I make this change will I have to modify the safety timer resistor value too?. Thanks!

  • Hello! I would really appreciate some feedback on this. Thanks
  • Hello
1.) if I should leave the USBPG floating as is?---Bill J -- Open drain output OK to float
2.) I would like to use 2000mAh or less LiPo batteries, so is it okay to have the charge current at ISET1 be at 1A? ---Bill J -- This will depend on the battery, check with manufactures requirements for charging. But typically charging at 0.5C is OK.
3.) Will it be detrimental to the battery life?---Bill J -- Consult battery manufacture.
4.) Is it advisable to increase the resistance at ISET1 to 2k to get the max charge current to around 500mA?---Bill J--You are probably OK at 0.5C.
5.) If I make this change will I have to modify the safety timer resistor value too? --- Bill J---Unit is set for 5 hr this it probably OK.
