BQ78350-R1: A list of Data Flash values that require a reset

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350

Hi,

I want to update some data flash values in the bq78350 R1.

Some of the gas gauges are in batteries that already had learning cycles and I prefer not to reset the gas gauge to keep MAX_ERROR low.

Do you have a list of DF values that require a reset?

these are the DF (addresses and description) I need to change:

0x4280 - Qmax LearnedFullCharge

0x4525 - Fixed EDV 012 hold

0x4538 - FCCLearnUpDown

0x4556 - Design Capacity mAh

  • Hi Yoav,

The parameters that you're changing are integral to CEDV gauging. So changing them requires a reset so that they are immediately loaded into memory for computation. There isn't a definitive list but any parameter in gas gauging state subsection that gets changed as the pack cycles will be subject to update. In short if you're performing a config change, please reset the gauge. Your max error will catch up once a full cycle is completed.
  • Hi batt,
I want to avoid resetting the GG.
To use the batteries in my application I must have max_error < 20%, and doing a full cycle to all our batteries is a huge operation.

From tests I am doing it seems the following settings take effect without a reset:
    0x4280 - Qmax LearnedFullCharge
    0x4538 - FCCLearnUpDown
    0x4556 - Design Capacity mAh
and the CEDV delay also seems to work without a reset.
You must have some kind of a list of values that require a reset.
  • Well there isn't a specific list. But the afe thresholds definitely need a reset to take. If you have a list, we can check it over.
