LM5122EVM-2PH: Current Unbalance

Part Number: LM5122EVM-2PH
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5122

hi, my LM5122 design is similar.  still designing.

with that unbalance, what does your output ripple look like?

this is in reference:  that 2 interleaved phases at 48-50% duty cycle cancel almost all ripple.

is your ripple mostly cancelled?

  • Hi Vern,

Are you saying that the specifications of your design are similar to the specifications of LM5122 2 phase EVM? What imbalance are your referring to?

If the duty-cycle of the each phase is ~50% a majority of the input ripple current will be canceled.

    Thanks,

    Garrett
  • hi, I was replying to that person who had imbalance. I have not finished my design.
yes, my duty cycle is 47%.
I'm trying to get more info. the graph incuded with LM5122 makes a bold claim.
according to the graph, my 47% duty cycle gives < 3% ripple. that is huge, right?
but each interleaved circuit still has high ripple, right?
  • Hi Vern,

Thank you for the clarification. If you are responding to another thread please reply in that thread instead of creating a new post. Which post were you trying to respond to?

Are you referring to figure 30 in the datasheet? Please note that IRMS is the referring to the the output current RMS value.

    Thanks,

    Garrett
