LM3481: Isolated small size DC-DC converter using LM3481 with output 24V and 3A

Hi dear,

I have to design an isolated dc-dc converter with input voltage range 18V - 36V and output 24V 3A with a switching frequency of 530KHz and size should be around 1/8 brick. I am buying the LM3481-FLYBACKEVM board.

I am not a power engineer therefore I need some advice regarding design parameters, selection of small size transformer and opto-coupler. It will be nice if you could provide some reference material and part manufacturers for transformer. Also, if you could some simulation software and design example.

Hi Mohsin,

72W is starting to get fairly large for a flyback converter with this input range voltage and switching frequency requirement. In order to achieve this the switching frequency might need to be lowered.

This reference design is a good starting place for this application.
