TPS2595: suggestions on using on the output side

Part Number: TPS2595

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering TPS259571 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

I am considering to use power switch for output.

According to the datasheet, it seems to be for power input side.

I' d like to know suggestions on using on the output side.

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi,

    Thanks for reaching us!
What is the load? Do you need the load to be hot plugged at the output side of eFuse?

    Best Regards,
    Rakesh
  • Hi Rakesh,

    Thank you for your reply.

The customer is now considering and the supply current.

I guess output current is up to 4A and load capacitance is up to 1000uF.

He'd like to know what constraints exist.

    I appreciate your great help.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi,

If the device is starting with "connected load" - there would not be any issue in driving large capacitive loads. In the scenario of using eFuse at the output side, the eFuse is in enabled mode and the load will be connected on the live output voltage. This will cause transient load on the eFuse leading to a restart cycle.
Can you share more information on complete system, voltage rating, end product. These information will help to comment on the device behavior.
I suggest you to get in touch with TI sales and get an EVM to verify the use case.

    Best Regards,
    Rakesh
  • Hi Rakesh,

    Thank you for your reply.

I attach the information, could you please see listed below.
Because of the concept stage, there is not much information.

    System: Factory Automation
    Voltage rating: 9 - 12V
Required Function: Hot Swap and Hot Plug

As you mentioned, when TPS2595 is using at the output, I guess it will cause a rush current and restart may be happened.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,
    Shinichi
