BQ28Z610: Where can I find differences in hardware revisions

Part Number: BQ28Z610

We have been building battery packs in production for over a year now.  Our Production Test System has been recording the hardware revision from the bq28z610 chip using command 0003.  It used to report 06.  The latest reel of parts we received are reporting 02.

Can you tell me where I can find a list of the changes between these revisions?  Or more importantly, will any of these changes make any difference to me on how the part operates?

Thanks

Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

I believe the firmware version shipping on the device may have changed at some point.  Do you know what FW version you were running in the past, vs what you are using now?

I'm pretty sure the underlying HW itself hasn't changed.

    Thanks,

    Terry

  • Using the AltManufacturerAccess command 0x0002 (Firmware Version) we are getting Version=17, Build=16.
The problem is that the AltManufacturerAccess command 0x0003 (Hardware Version) is now returning 02 instead of 06.
  • Ok, it seems that firmware version has some issue with the HW Version command and reports back a value that is related to trim on the device, is not necessarily going to be consistent all the time. That seems to have been addressed in newer firmware, although I did not find it mentioned in the release notes.

The newer firmware is available on the ti.com product folder, if you would like to upgrade to that.

    Thanks,

    Terry
