BQ40Z50-R1: How to layout unused TS pin

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ9003, BQ40Z50

Hi ,

If TS2/TS3 are unused can I direct short this pin to vss or left this pin floating?

Thanks

  • Hi,

Unused TS pins should be tied to VSS directly.
  • Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply. I am asking this question beacause my customer have a NDA part based on bq9003.
They are facing more than thousand pcs data flash corrupt .Someone tell me the TS pin can't direct tied to ground, and
must connect a resistor to pull down otherwise it have posibility corrupt the content data of flash. Is it truth?
Over the past year ,my customer had checked SMT、ESD、Electrical Leakage ... , and just running around in circles can't find the root cause.Because they also produce bq40z50 battery pack and no data corrupt issue, so they want to know what's the different between the two hardware platform.
    Thanks !
  • I understand the concern, and at one time there was a recommendation to put a resistor between TS pins and ground. That is no longer the recommendation, and having a resistor between TS and VSS is not recommended. If the existing design has a resistor between TS and VSS on the unused pins, it is recommended to replace it with a 0 Ohm resistor if the board will not be changed.
