UCC28061: UCC28061's minimum off time

Part Number: UCC28061

Dear Team,

My customer is evaluate UCC28061 and L6562.

L6562 can operate from 500kHz-1000kHz.

He is wondering how about UCC28061's minimum off time and maximum operating frequency.

Or you have better IC suggestion please feel free to let me know.

Best Regards

Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,
Both of these parts are transition mode controllers which means that the operating frequency changes with the instantaneous line voltage and the load required.
They are designed into an application by choosing a minimum switching frequency at the peak of the low line supply rail and at maximum load.
At light loads and around the zero crossings the frequency shifts towards a maximum. The main effect of this is to increase the switching losses.
The datasheet shows a min switching period T(min) = 2.2uS
This will give an fmax of about 500kHz
