TPS61195: Questions for DPST mode/PWM

Part Number: TPS61195

Hi, Team,

We have questions for TPS61195.

1) We want to know the meaning of "DPST mode"

Is it possible to change the peak current value of PWM dimming from SMBUS? (Can you control both DUTY and peak current value?) Or will it be NO DELAY PWM DIMMING with the multiplied value of the SMBUS setting DUTY and the PWM signal duty from the PWM input pin?

In the explanation of the dimming operation in the data sheet, the setting called DPST mode is written in bit [2: 1] of SMBUS address 0X01, but there is no detailed explanation about this.

2) For Direct PWM method in Table 4, 0.5% min is recommended for 100 Hz <PWM frequency <200 Hz. How should we consider an absolute lower limit when the customer set more smaller duty?

The customer dosn't care problems such as the light emitting quality of the LED. We want to know the criterion of fatal lower limit such as this IC can not operate PWM.

Best Regards,

Satoshi Yone

  • Hi Yone
For DPST mode, I am not familiar with application, I will reply to you later.
and for PWM dimming minumum duty cycle, I will check with designers and reply you later. actually, 0.5% is already pretty small, which level does customer wants?
