UC28023: Questions about the forward converter.

Hello.

I have a question about UC28023.

There is MAX duty 80% (min) of UC 28023 in the data sheet.
Is it possible to construct a forward converter with duty MAX: 80% by setting external constants?
Also, is duty MAX: 50% general forward converter supported?

    Hi Masazumi-san,

    The improtant concern with the forward converter is to ensure the transformer is reset after the on-time. There are a number of techniques ensure the reset of the transformer such a reset winding in transformer, resonant reset etc. I think the reset winding may be able to manage the rest but care must be taken with the magnitude of the reset voltage. Please check TI library for technical references such as www.ti.com/.../slup112.pdf

    The UC28023 has a duty cycle clamp feature, see section 8.3.3. in the datasheet. The IC can be setup with external component values to limit max duty cycle to 50%.
