TPS65910: how to change PWM and pulse skipping mode in TPS65910

Part Number: TPS65910

Hi i am Yogesh V R.

in our board we have used TPS65910A3 PMIC and we have done precompliance testing for the same, we are facing issues with the radiated emission issues in the 95-105 MHZ Region. After clear examination and isolating all the interfaces, we are suspecting PMIC may be creating issues, we want to understand how PWM mode and pulse skipping modes affects the emission, which is better among the two in terms of less emission and how to enable the same.

  • There is a pin on the TPS65910 for external clock synchronization, named GPIO_CKSYNC. The control for external clock sync are named DCDCCKEXT and DCDCCKSYNC.

    The bits for enabling/disabling pulse-skipping are named VDD1_PSKIP, VDD2_PSKIP, and VIO_PSKIP.

Here are some excerpts from the datasheet related to this topic (all bits for control of the switching clock are in Reg. 0x3E, DCDCCTRL_REG):
