UCC28070: Disabling phase B

Part Number: UCC28070

Hello E2E,

I like the feature set of the UCC28070 for a 150W application, but I am curious if it is possible to disable phase B without affecting the operation of of phase A?  I see the benefits in the DS about reduced ripple and external component values, but two phases seems like quite a few components for 150W maximum. It seems like grounding the output of the CS transconductance amp should shut down that particular phase but I wanted to confirm. Will this work?

Thanks!

Russell

  • Hi Russell Wetherley1,
Looking at the block diagram it seems to me that both phases are completely independent.
They are just both driven from fixed frequency clocks with different phase and the same current reference is applied to both channels.
I think is should not be necessary to do anything other than just not populate the second channel. In other words just leave GDB open.
    Thanks
