TPS65381A-Q1: synchronizing the MCU with watchdog

Part Number: TPS65381A-Q1

From the 5.4.13 sector, is it true that synchronizing  the MCU with watchdog sequence can be performed anytime, not only at the moment when MCU timer start. ?

BYD said there are fault reported when they synchronize the MCu with watchdog not at the moment when MCU timer start.

  • Yes, you can re-synchronize and must if for some reason the MCU becomes unsynchronized.  However, depending on the WD_FAIL_CNT when the MCU determines it is not synchronized it may not have enough time or chances to re-synchronize before WD_FAIL_CNT reaches 7+1 and RESET state occurs if WD_RST_EN = 1.

In a normally running system the MCU is synchronized with the watchdog in the TPS65381A-Q1 during the boot process of the MCU while the TPS65381A-Q1 is in DIAGNSOTIC state and when the MCU runs properly they will remain synchronized.

    Best Regards,
