we are designing a BMS for our project. Please suggest how to program BQ75pl536a. also, how can we add overcharge protection and over discharge protection mosfet to this ic.

Hi Nikhil,

You need an MCU with a SPI interface to communicate to the pl536. The details of the protocol are in the datasheet.

For protection, you can look at using a discrete relay/driver, or an additional IC such as the bq76200, depending on your pack size.

Hi,

I also have questions about the programming. If I use the MSP430 as MCU, is the 7V pulse for EPROM addresses programming necessary? or I can set the UV, OV values, and number of cells (4 per IC in my design) when the MSP430 is initialized, by modifying the source code given in the application note?

Hi Pablo,

If you do not burn the EEPROM, then you should make sure the software is robust enough to know a POR has occured, and to re-initialize the devices.
