TLC6C5816-Q1: CLR

Part Number: TLC6C5816-Q1

Hello,

I would like to read back the fault status just at the moment. I mean I do not care the failure status, say 100ms ago.

To clear the old fault record, I am considering asserting CLR prior to every register read back. Here are two concerns:

1. Does CLR affect the LED drain condition?

If CLR affects drains immediately on assertion, it cannot be used.

2. When is the failure status updated after CLR?

If possible, I would like to assert CLR just before reading status registers. How long should I wait for the status updated?

Thanks.

I in this question actually is one of my customers.

  • Hi Oguri-san,

CLR will reset all the internal registers including turn off output.

Because the output channel is turned off, LED Open/Shor diagnostics feature will not be available.

Users need to reconfigure the output channels to do the diagnostics (including configure the corresponding output channels to diagnostics function)

If you don't case the failure 100ms ago, you can read the fault registers twice to get the newest status, because each time when you read the fault status, the status registers will refresh.
