BQ34110: Current Calibration

Part Number: BQ34110

Hi,

I'm facing an issue when I want to do the calibration on the BQ34110 EVM.

My configuration is the following : Battery 6S 7200 mV connected to the EVM and connected to the PC via an EV2300, VEN_EN = 1, J2 configured as >5V, J5 to 16V

With the current set to zero on the dynamic load, I can read that the BQ34110 read 0 as well so the CC Offset is ok.

Now when I apply a 1 amp load, the BQ34110 read -1018 mA. So I enter to calibration mode by pressing CAL_TOGGLE and chack the CAL_EN flag.

Then I set the number of series cell and I calibrate the current by entering -1000 mA. I get a green check sign next to the Calibrate Gas Gauge button but the current is still at -1018 mA.

What should I do to get the calibration done ?

Thanks for your help !

  • Hi Mickael,

The device is most likely not writing to data flash due to the cell update OK voltage parameter. Assuming a NiMH/NiCD chemistry, please set the cell update OK voltage parameter to 800 before updating the series value.

Please perform the steps in either Option A or Option B:

    Option A:
    1) Reprogram the gauge with the default firmware
    2) Set Cell Update OK voltage to 800
    3) Set Series value

    Option B:
    1) Enable Cal mode
    2) Set Cell Update OK voltage to 800
    3) Exit Cal mode
    4) Set Series value

    Sincerely,

  • Hi Bryan,

Thanks for your quick reply !
I will try those steps and come back to you with if it doesn't work.
