TPS60403: About behavior when VIN=0V, VOUT=-5.0V

Part Number: TPS60403

Hi,

Our customer is evaluating TPS60403.

Then, -5.0V is applied to VOUT of TPS60403 when VIN=0V.

According to the datasheet, absolute maximum ratings of OUT to GND is -5.5V to 0.3V so we understand that it has no problem in practical use.

Is my understanding correct?

Best Regards,

Yusuke/Japan Disty

  • Yusuke,

You are correct that this will not give the device any issues.

I tested this out and saw that if -5V is applied to Vout when Vin is at 0V, the device will sink ~7mA of current through the Vout pin. Vin and Cfly+ were both at a constant ~0.45V, and Cfly- was at a constant -5V.

Please let me know if this answers your question.

    Thank you,
    Nick
