LM5118: LM5118 thermal and damage

Dear Enginner

LM5118 is using unifunction current limit function at UPS.

Vin : 52 ~ 56, Vout(Battery cell) : 39 ~ 54V @ 3A

In the initial operation, it varies from 2.9A to about 1A, causing ocsillation.

As temperature of IC increases, damag is continuing.

It has continuously attempted to change the webench results and external compent, but has not improved.

so, I would like to inquire about how to make improvements or if there are any other recommendation IC.

Mike,

Can you please post the schematic? How hot is the IC getting? What part of the circuit is being damaged?

Also a quick way to calculate component values is using the quick-start calculator .

Thank you for your prompt reply.

The IC(LM5118) temperature rises to approximately 80 to 140 degrees.
and continues to operate and the IC is damaged.
