BQ25606: BQ25606 thermal estimation

Part Number: BQ25606

Hi Sir,

We have used to TI bq25606, the charging current is maximum to 1400~1600mA. we want to estimate the rise temperature of this device.

Is there has any curve that the rise temperature of bq25606 on your side? for example charge 500mA, 1000mA, 2000mA, IC will rise how much each degree?

thanks~

PS: pls noted how many layers and oz on the test PCB.

Regards,

Driscoll

  • Hi Driscoll:

The temperature rise depends on your PCB layout and copper thickness. From our datasheet, you can find the efficiency and calculate power loss. The total power loss minus inductor loss is the IC power loss. Then according to the thermal resistance from IC to ambient temperature, you can calculate the temperature rise. The thermal resistance depends on PCB copper thickness and layout. Typical thermal resistance is 50C/W.
