TPS543C20: About load regulation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS543C20

Hi,

In Table 6 of Datasheet P.25, load regulation is written as 0.5%.

Q1: In the case of 2 Phase, if we think that there is a 0.5% variation per IC in the worst case, will the load regulation be about 1%?
Q2: Where is the point of load regulation? Is it near the IC? Or is it a load side? In the case of the load side, how much is the sum of the DCR of the inductor and the wiring resistance considered?
Q3: Is it possible to think that the output deviation due to load regulation is proportional to the current in this device?

Best regards,
Yuto Sakai

  • Sakai-sa,
A1. Only one reference is used, so ti is still 0.5%. The other IC "shares" information via the VSHARE and ISHARE pins.
A2. TPS543C20 has differential remote sense capability, so it can have the point of regulation at the load. It considers all the drops on the Vout side and the return side.
A3. there is always some voltage deviation due to load change. I do not have the load regulation data for the 2 phase design , but it shold be similar to the single phase design shown in figure 6 of the EVM users guide: www.ti.com/.../sluubk7.pdf
