BQ25601: Battery Detect

Hi Jason:

Do you need SYS voltage no matter if BAT presents or not? bq25601 has power path that isolates SYS and BAT so that SYS can power up without battery presence. Is this something you needed?

If a battery is not attached and charge is disabled, the SYS is regulated at 3.68V. If a battery is not attached, change is enabled, system voltage will fluctuate between recharge and fully charged voltages. If charge is disabled, and battery is attached, if the battery voltage is below 3.68V, the SYS voltage remains at 3.68V; if battery voltage is above 3.68V, then the SYS voltage will be VBAT+50mV. If charge is enabled, and battery is attached, if the battery voltage is below 3.68V, the SYS voltage remains at 3.68V; if battery voltage is above 3.68V, then the SYS voltage will be close to VBAT.

Humm... this is really not that great.

Is there a (hidden) register that I can get VBAT and thermistor voltage? I can measure SYS easily enough with my MCU, but VBAT is (preferably) only connected to the bq25601

can you recommend a charger that is very similar to the 25601 that has a built-in battery detect feature?

I need to understand how you want the device to perform. Do you want the device tell you if the battery present or not?
