My customer want to choose ultra low Iq LDO in their charging case application. It seems like TPS7A05 would be a good solution in their requirement. Could you kindly help to explain Iq test spec on TPS7A05? Since there is few information in electrical table, I want to know if this solution is really suitable for them, thanks!

Hi Ann,
Iq is a specific case of Ignd and is defined with no load. Like all linear regulators, the ground current (Ignd) will increase with load current (Iout). The Electrical Characteristics table specifications are all given with Iout = 1 uA over three temperature ranges: Tj = 25 C, Tj = -40 C to 85 C, and Tj = -40 C to 125 C.
As you can see, as the temperature range is extended, the maximum Ignd also extends.
The typical Characteristics curves give an indication as to how Ignd varies with load current.
