I evaluated LP8860-Q1 by PWM direct dimming.

When I shorted the LED, this device's short circuit protection did't work.

Is this operation correct for this device?

Hi Yokota-san,

LED short fault on direct PWM mode is not supposed to work. Actually, direct PWM mode is designed for system debug purpose, and bypass most of LED driver features such as dither, sloping, hybrid dimming, etc.

I think LP8861-Q1 is direct PWM dimming LED Driver.

So, Does this device have the shot circuit protection when the LED is short?

Yes, LP8861 only supports direct PWM mode and also supports LED short fault. Once fault happens LED channels with fault are diabled to avoid high power dissipation or abnormal operation.
