BQ24072: How to check for dead part?

Part Number: BQ24072

Hi,

my BQ24072 seems to be gone, when I connect 5V form bench power supply with no battery attached I get 0V at output. I assume that the part is dead, but how can I check it to be sure? I didn't find in datasheet any test circuits to diagnostic BQ24072.

I get the described result with reference design, and these values:

EN1 -> low, EN2 -> low, CE -> low, TD -> low, TMR -> low, TS -> 10k, ILIM -> 1.3k, ISET -> 1.2k

Any suggestions?

Thanks

  • Hi
    The setting should work:
    1.) EN1 -> low, EN2 -> low -- Input power limited to 100mA, but it load is light with no battery this would be OK
    2.) CE -> low--Battery charge enabled but with not battery not an issue
    3.) TD -> low -- Battery termination disabled, not an issue
    4.) TMR -> low--Battery timers disabled, not an issue
    5.) TS -> 10k--This is a safe value--***Check for a voltage on TS pin, it would give and indication internal current source is active.
    6.) ILIM -> 1.3k -- Input current limit at 1.1A for EN1 low and EN2 high --- OK
    7.) ISET -> 1.2k -- Charge current at about 750mA, OK

    Also could check if the PG pin is low indicating power good, CHG pin should be high Z
