Buck Boost duty cycles and SLVA535a

On page 2 of the report titled Design Calculations for Buck-Boost Converters there is a formula (1) for duty cycle of a buck converter. The formula has a figure (n) for efficiency in the numerator which tells me that as efficiency decreases, duty cycle will also decrease.  But it seems that as efficiency goes down, duty cycle would have to increase in order to still arrive at the desired output voltage. So wouldn't efficiency belong in the denominator? What am I missing?

Thanks.
