TPS2421-1: what is the value of the current in fault time

Part Number: TPS2421-1

Hi ,

compare 2 figure

Figure 6. 3-V Firm Overload, Load Stepped from 3.8 A to 5.5 A

and

Figure 7. 3-V Hard Overload, Load Stepped from 3.8 A to 7.1 A

In my view,

Rset = 49.9k, then Iset = 4A,

In figure 6, after OCP, Iload will keep around 3.4A and Vout drop to 2V

In figure 7, after OCP, Iload will keep around 2.4A and Vout drop to 1V

I want to know

1. why figure 6 and figure 7 have different Iload and vout afre OCP.

2. in Equation 4, Vout vary on Ron, is that mean Ron will change in figure 6 and figure 7 ?

is there any Equation can get Iload and Vout in fault time ?

  • Hi Chen,

I will look into your query and get back to you shortly

  • Hi Chen,

We have new and better performance parts to suggest. Can you share your system requirements and the reason for choosing TPS2421.

Coming to relation between Vout and Iout.
For current regulating devices, Vout during fault = Ilim*Overload impedance = Ilim*(Nominal Vout/overload current value) but it is hard to define such expression for circuit breaker type devices like TPS2421.
