BQ24072: Current limitation when supplied through battery

Part Number: BQ24072

Hello team,

I am using BQ24072 IC for supplying my circuit of 'PORTABLE GAS DETECTOR' via 5V USB supply and a battery else time.

Now, I have set the charging current to 500 mA when supplied through USB.

The questions are,

1. Will the current be limited to 500 mA even when the circuit is supplied through the battery and USB connection is temporarily isolated ?

2. Can I get the exact values of voltage drop across BAT and OUT pins with varying current values ? The datasheet says it to be (Vbat - Vout) 50 mV to 100 mV for a current of 1A.

  • Hello

    The questions are,

    1. Will the current be limited to 500 mA even when the circuit is supplied through the battery and USB connection is temporarily isolated ? -- Bill J - The BAT to OUT path is not limited, IN to OUT will be limited to 500mA

    2. Can I get the exact values of voltage drop across BAT and OUT pins with varying current values ? The datasheet says it to be (Vbat - Vout) 50 mV to 100 mV for a current of 1A. --- Bill J - The voltage drop will vary from device to device and will be in the range listed in spec table.
  • Thank you Bill for your support.
