two questions about the UCC2897A

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2897A

when learning the Ucc2897A datasheet, two questions troubled me.

1.

.

how to choose or calculate the corner frequency fF?

2.

how to  calculate the dVL/dt ??

Looking forward for the answers! thanks.

  • Hello user5357005,

In answer to your first question: If you have a switching frequency of 100kHz say , then the minimum pulse width is going to be around 1uS.
So a rise time of 100nS to 200nS is not going to overly distort the minimum current sense signal.
This would correspond to an f value of one hundreth to one fifthieth of the switching frequency.
So use one hundreth of the switching frequency as a starting value

For your second question dV/dt is the downslope of the inductor ramp current.
In a buck regulator the inductor current downslope equals Vout/L.
This document explains the requirements for current mode control and it may be helpful.

    Regards

    John

  • thanks for the answer .in the first answer ,does it mean I can choose the corner frequency fF=1/100Fsw ?I don't quite understand that .

  • Yes.
1/100 Fsw is a good number to use
