LM78L: Why there are two packages of LM78L05

Hi all, it is so kind to find you all here. I am curious about why there are two different lead option of this device? One is 2.6mm and the other is 1.27mm. What the difference of these option? Thank you very much.

Hi Charles,

The industry standard TO-92 package has the option of coming in either the straight lead or formed lead option. There is no electrical difference between the two packages, the only difference is the dimensions specified on the formed lead section of the package outline.

Please note that per SNOA072 which describes the TO-92 Packing Options and Ordering Instructions, the straight leads are only available in blulk. The Tape & Reel and Tape & Radial Ammo Pack packing formats are only available for the formed lead option.
