WEBENCH® Tools/TPS54260: About Upperbound in Webench

Part Number: TPS54260

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi team

I ask you about "Enter Your Search Limits" in the window to "Alternate Part" to Cout in Webench simulation result.

The formula for obtaining the output capacitor in the datasheet is the formula for finding the minimum value.

However, Webench has the value "Upperbound" in "Alternate Part".

What does the "Upperbound" value mean?

  • Charles,

The "Alternate Part" inputs are generic for finding parts. The upper, lower, and target are there to help you narrow down part selection. After entering upper, lower, and target, you'll select one capacitor. If the upper, lower, target inputs came up with zero capacitors, you may want to change upper or lower to widen your search. In this case if the datasheet gives you a minimum value, you may want to increase the upper to find more capacitors.
