BQ25101: Indicate presence of power

Part Number: BQ25101

Hello,

We want to detect the presence of the power in (5v) in front of our battery charger.

Is it there a way with the bq25101 to do this?

We have also a BQ27421 ( Battery fuel jauge)  in the battery path. Can this chip gives us this reliable information?

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

  • Hello
A couple of possible options on the bq25101:
1.) ISET pin -- This is a current source that is proportional to output (input) current of the device. Voltage will be proportional to the current and R-ISET.
2.) TS pin -- This is a current source that will develop voltage across the NTC. The current is present when Vin is greater than UVLO, 3.5V.

The ISET pin voltage will be higher but is only present during charging.
The TS pin voltage is present when Vin is applied and independent of charging, but amplitude is lower and depends on temp. Low is 268mV and high 1.255V
