LM5041: HD and LD waveform will have both high for 2ns

Part Number: LM5041
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27201, LM5102

Hi, my customer is using LM5041. The waveform is as below.

yellow-HD, blue-LD.

Zoom in: they will be both high for 2ns.

They are not sure if it's caused by their circuit problem, or the device itself just act like this.

They use external driver after HD, LD, UCC27201, but this one doesn't have dead time adjustment.

If the device LM5041 act like that, they will need 100V, 3A drive current half bridge gate driver with dead time adjustment, it seems that we don't have such devices.

  • Hi Howard,

The LM5041 does not have any deadtime between the two outputs as one output is a simple inversion of the other.

The LM5102 is a 100V gate driver with 1.6A/1.8A gate drive capability and adjustable dead-time. Do we know why the customer needs 3A gate drive, it seems very high.

Alternatively the gate drive waveform can be shaped by using a series resistor to slow down the turn on and turn off can be adjusted by a separate series circuit of a diode and resistor placed in parallel with the turn resistor.

    Regards
