BQ34Z100-G1: BQ34Z100-G1 Learning Cycle LiFe

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hi,

What is the learning cycle procedure for LiFe Batteries (Multi-Cell)? Where is the documentation for this?

Cheers,

Jerome

  • Hi Jerome,

    0. Configure dataflash, pack chemistry, perform calibration and export GG File (for later comparison)
    1. Enable IT
    2. Send Reset command (0x0041)
    3. Charge the pack to charge termination.
    4. Rest until the OCVTAKEN flag sets
    5. C/5 Discharge to the termination voltage
    6. Rest until the OCVTAKEN flag sets. At this point, QMax should update and the Update Status should increment to 0x05
    7. Charge the pack to charge termination
    8. Rest until OCVTAKEN flag sets
    9. C/5 Discharge to the termination voltage
    10. Rest until the OCVTAKEN flag sets. At this point, the Ra table should update and Update Status should increment to 0x06

Collateral specific to the learning cycle of the bq34z100-G1 is currently being revamped. In the interim, please refer to this app note for further information:

  • Hi Bryan,

Thanks for those steps. Look forward to the release of the official documentation.

Regarding the steps: how important are the discharge C-rates (C/5) on Steps 5 and 9? Will they affect the Learning Cycle if it were say C/10?

    Cheers,

    Jerome

  • Hi Jerome,

Yes, varying the C Rates can effect the learning cycle. Please try to be spot on with the rates.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
