BQ24050: BQ24050:

Part Number: BQ24050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22914

Dear Support,

I need some suggestion here from system design level, if I use a Battery charge, for example, BQ24050, to charge a lipo battery to 3.7V and use a step-down switching regulator to get a 3.3V 300mA DC. I plan to put a mechanical switch on one of the battery electrodes. I also need an electronic switch that can cut the battery path off after detects the system idle for more 30 seconds, just in case the user forgets to turn off the mechanical switch and prevent the lipo battery from over leakage.

I hope battery management expert give me some detail suggestions.

Thanks,

David Sun

  • The requirement to detect system idle is difficult. If you have a device on the board that can detect this it could control a load switch such as TPS22914. We have used them before with good results.
The ON pin can be controlled by an external device or possibly an RC network.
