Are you saying that customer got 70% in WB? Is it possible you can share the WB design? When I run WB I get an efficiency above 90%?
If you are referring the bench performance, please can you share schematic and also have customer scope switch node when running at full load to see if the design is stable?
The reasons is the Diode forward voltage drop is 1V, you can select an alternative part and make a custom part with a VF of 0.5V and the efficiency goes up to around 81%.
It might be worth considering a synchronous buck controller if you need efficiency closer to 90%?
