BQ40Z50-R1: Higly pulsed discharges and Ra update

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

We experience occasional jumps in RSOC when battery is at rest (not necessarily set flag [REST])  between (but not during) discharge current pulse bursts from application. RSOC can both increase and fall up to 30% after/during such rest (>5h). Any suggestions why?

Saw info about GPCRA0 in other thread. Is this relevant to "rest" RSOC jumps or related to our MaxError problem or other?

  • There are a variety of reasons that the RSOC could jump during relaxation. Typically the gauge will take an Open circuit voltage measurement and this could correct any error in RemCap and FCC, but the gauge can also correct them when it determines a temperature change.
If you are able to post a bqStudio log showing this issue as well as your gg file, we will be able to check what is going on.

  • In our verification process to see if large steps in RSOC has disappeared due to OCV adjustments at REST, is there a upper limit for REST to be detected. Today we use 6h but would like to minimize this time period.
    Thanks for all help.
